Cross Country Skiing at Turkey Hill
I spent New Years’ weekend at Turkey Hill with my family. My mom and I went cross country skiing around our property two times — it was so beautiful and I was amazed at how much the scenery changed each day. The second morning there was a hoarfrost which made all the pine trees look like real life flocked Christmas trees! It was the perfect way to kick off the new year.
New Year’s Day Snow Day!
2021 kicked off with a snow day! We spent the day cozy inside and only left to shovel and take a walk around the neighborhood. I hope you all are having a peaceful start to this new year.
December Around The Web
December flew by! This year Dale and I celebrated all month long with advent gifts/activities we planned for each other. It really helped bring some extra joy to this strange holiday season! We also celebrated my mom’s birthday with a luminary walk, Holiday Mart wrapped up with some awesome events including a virtual flower arranging event, and my family did an outdoor cookie exchange. Christmas both felt totally normal and completely different as we moved our celebrations outside, into garages and over zoom. This month around the web I loved getting glimpses of how others decorated this year, especially this dreamy curtain/wreath situation in Kelly’s daughters’s room:
Along the same lines, I loved Brighton’s roundup of holiday traditions. Ours remained mostly the same this year but I hope that Christmas Eve tamales continue for years to come!
Dale and I made these gingerbread cookies and they turned out great!
Carly has me inspired to try making a needlepoint ornament sometime. Julia also had beautiful needlepoint stockings made this year!
Mantle inspiration from The Makerista
My mom received this book for Christmas. We would love to visit the Chateau someday!
Already really liking these pillowcases. An affordable silk option!
One of my favorite Christmas gifts!
Beautiful NYE inspiration, even for at home!
This looks like the perfect recipe to try in January.
Hope your holidays were merry and bright!
Christmas Tree 2020
This year my family masked up and headed to Fulk Farms to pick out our Christmas trees! Kaldi joined us and we loved walking though all the trees. Dale and I finally picked a tree that was the right size for our living room (not too small this year!) and I love how people driving down our street can see it through the front window. Have you decorated for Christmas yet?
November Around The Web
Hello, friends! I hope you were able to celebrate Thanksgiving safely with your families/friends. We ended up having a small outdoor celebration and I’m really grateful we had warm November weather! This month we made the most of some warm weekends with bike rides and dinner outdoors and I actually did a lot of online Christmas shopping. It felt good to get a jumps start – I even put up our decorations before Thanksgiving this year for the first time ever!
I am waiting for my new iPhone to arrive and would love to get one of these phone cases with Jamie’s photography!
Have you interviewed your parents or grandparents about their lives?
We tried these Brussels sprouts and this soup this month. Both were delicious!
Adding these documentaries to my list!
I’ve also been reading a lot lately! Looking forward to reading some of these as they come out.
I’m always fascinated by families who downsize or choose to live in smaller homes. Some great tips even for our home!
Daydreaming about a big European trip… someday!
Grateful we will soon see the first female Vice President inaugurated (and Joe Biden of course!).
