On our last day at the chateau we did a quick trip to the nearby town of Montcuq. We had heard about their famous Sunday market from our host and were not disappointed! There were lots of vendors (food and beyond) and some unique shops. I purchased a beautiful ceramic piece from a local artist. In the heat of the day we didn’t stay long but grabbed a few extra ingredients for our last meal at the chateau. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area (especially on Sunday).
Cahors, France
Today we did a short day trip to Cahors. Grace braided all our hair so we could survive the heat and we spent a few hours exploring and enjoyed an amazing lunch. Dale, Grant, EB and I headed home a bit early while the rest of the group visited the Cathérale Sainte-Étienne.
Summer Sunshine
One of the highlights of our time at Château les Estournels was the pool! We had lots of (hot) sunshine and spent at least part of every day relaxing in the cold water. There was also a beautiful sunflower field just outside the drive into the house so we had to take a few family photos there as well!
Grace’s 21st Birthday Dinner
The chateau’s beautiful dining room was the perfect setting for our big 21st birthday dinner! Our Airbnb host recommended a chef that came to the house and it was a highlight of the entire trip! Happy 21st Birthday, Grace! Cheers!
Family Portraits at Château les Estournels
June 26 waasGrace’s 21st birthday! Before dinner we took some family portraits outside the chateau. I’ll never forget our lovely evening at the chateau celebrating Grace!
Château les Estournels
On June 25th we arrived at Château les Estournels! This beautiful estate was built in 1776 and we spent five nights relaxing in the countryside with a few short daytime excursions. Here are some photos of the property and our beautiful rooms.
