On July 4th we had to say goodbye to Provence and headed to the coast. The last night of our trip was spent at the Royal Antibes Hotel overlooking the water. We spent the day enjoying the beach and had dinner at the hotel’s restaurant Royal Beach. Walking through old town was a highlight and our after dinner ice cream was the perfect finale to our time in France. I’m so grateful for this special trip with our family and that Dale and I were able to make these memories with Grant.
Saint-Rémy-de-Provence
This morning we visited the beautiful market in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. I bought a turquoise bracelet from a local gallery and have regrets about not purchasing a few table cloths. We also took some time for family photos along the driveway of our Airbnb. I’m so grateful we were able to bring Grant along on this trip – especially alongside cousin Winnie!
Senanque Abbey
After our morning market trip to Gordes we headed to the nearby Senanque Abbey. The lavender was blooming and while the abbey itself was closed, we wandered amongst the shady blooms.
Gordes, France
Today we were up early ready to explore Gordes. I vividly remember visiting in 2018 when Dale and I were in Provence — the village sits on a hill and is truly breathtaking. This time we had the opportunity to visit the market and it is worth planning around! So many vendors with food, textiles and more. I came home with a woven basket, comfy pjs, placemats, two pillow covers for my living room and hair clip. Next stop today: Senanque Abbey.
Cabannes, France
We’ve arrived at our beautiful (and final) Airbnb of the trip in Cabannes. The house has a stunning pool overlooking a vineyard and our plan is to spend the mornings exploring and afternoons/evenings swimming and making dinner at the house. I can’t wait to share more from shopping, eating and exploring the beautiful villages of Provence!
Carcassonne, France
Today we said au revoir to our beautiful chateau and spent the day on a road trip to Provence. Along the way we knew we would have time for one stop and Dale’s pick was the historic fortified city of Carcassonne in the Occitanie region of France. As soon as we could spot the city in the distance I knew it was something special! Again, we perservered through the heat wave and enjoyed a delicious lunch (where Grant ate almost his entire plate of carbonara!) and then headed into the walls to explore. A highlight was finding Grant and Winnie’s knight Halloween costumes! After walking around we hopped back in the car and were on our way to our last long stop of the trip in Cabannes.
