Recently I had the opportunity to help refresh the look of my childhood room. My seventh grade self fell in love with lavender walls, a pink shag run, and a monogrammed headboard, but it was definitely time for an update! To cut down on cost I decided it would be best to try and work with some of the existing elements. I kept all of my white furniture and got a new bed. With the addition of a few new items the room is really starting to come together! My favorite being the new Anthropologie bedding which has a stunning color palette. The bed should be the centerpiece, and this embroidered duvet does the trick. Take a look at some of my favorite pieces in the room:
Royals Chalk Lettering
Today was an exciting day to be in Kansas City, and at Hallmark! With the Royals playing in the World Series the atmosphere around town is amazing. To celebrate, the Lettering Studio created a chalk lettering piece at Crown Center, and I was lucky enough to be able to help out. Take a look at a few pictures from the process, and be sure to watch the video Hallmark made! Visit Hallmark's Facebook album to see even more pictures from today. Go Royals!
Marimekko Autumn 2014
While Marimekko is a brand I have been familiar with for awhile, I just recently started following them on social media. With Fall upon us here in the midwest, I am just in love with the color palette in the Autumn 2014 collection. I also love the mix of patterns. I often find myself wearing multiple patterns at once, and I love to see how brands and individuals alike pair patterns together. I hope you find this collection just as inspiring as I do!
#hallmarklife
After some relaxing time off, I could not be more excited to be back at Hallmark! Here are a few quick snapshots from my first few weeks. It has been wonderful to rejoin my co-workers in the Lettering Studio and dive back into creating. I have had a chance to spend an afternoon at Hallmark's farm in Kearney, visit the remodeled Hallmark Gold Crown store in Crown Center, and hear some amazing speakers during Trends Week. ALSO while I was gone Hallmark started their very own blog (Think.Make.Share.) so go take a look!
STL Design Week | Aaron Draplin
One of the highlights of Saint Louis Design Week was hearing Aaron Draplin speak. Not only did his sense of humor make his talk entertaining, he was very humble about the success he has had as a designer. Aaron at one point stated he has been called a "raging sentimentalist," a quality that does seem to shine through in his work. If you ever get the chance, don't miss the opportunity for an entertaining hour or two listing to Aaron. There is also a great interview with him on Designboom. It's a few years old, but definitely worth the read. Thanks for a great evening STLDW and Mr. Draplin!
STL Design Week | Terrarium Workshop
Yesterday I had a chance to participate in my first Saint Louis Design Week event, a Terrarium Workshop! This workshop took place at Flowers and Weeds, located on Cherokee Street in St. Louis. Jessica Douglass's fantastic greenhouse is located behind The Heirloom Room, an equally fantastic antique shop. I had a wonderful time making my very own terrarium and taking a multitude of pictures around the space. If you find yourself on Cherokee Street don't miss out on visiting both!
