February Around The Web
What a month! Every year I count down the days until Valentineβs Day and my birthday as a bright spot in the coldest part of the year. And this year my birthday was absolutely freezing! We celebrated with Lidiaβs pasta (a birthday tradition) and my mom made me chocolate ganache cake! Dale also surprised me with a Smeg electric kettle to go along with my Christmas toaster and Iβm obsessed with my first pair of Lake Pajamas from my parents.
This month I also got to Facetime and see a few close girlfriends, we watched the Superbowl with Sophie and Alex, and I took part in a virtual Escape Room for my cousin Lieselβs birthday. Thankfully the last few days of the month really warmed up and we were able to get outside and have some fiends over to hang out on our deck. We are also busy planning Sophieβs wedding! In my researching I stumbled across this stunning Babyβs Breath arch!! Here are a few more finds around the web this month:
You need to try this one pot chicken and mushroom orzo
And this was the first big meal we made post-Whole 30
Loving green lately and hoping to snag a pair of these sneakers this Spring!
Never has a SNL skit spoken to me more.
So many friends are having babies and I came across this Grandmillennial nursery inspiration.
Such a fun podcast episode with 2021 trend predictions!
I learned so much from Emilyβs blog post on Modern Shaker Style.
These gold frames caught my eye, Iβve been wanting to add more family photos at home!

Hallmark Mahogany: Uplifted & Empowered
I was honored to be a small part of the team of editors, writers and artists who came together to create Uplifted & Empowered, an eleven-card collection for racial resilience and pride. All of the cards are written by Black writers and Hallmarkβs Union Hill photography studio did a beautiful job capturing portraits of some of the writers and artists involved!
Editorial Director Dierdra (βDeeβ) Zollar leads the Mahogany team in ensuring every message on every card rings true, feels relevant and reflects Black culture in all of its multifaceted realness and richness. The card I created artwork for was inspired by current events, described by Dee:
βOne was theΒ death of Congressman John Lewis, who had been such a courageous and highly-respected beacon of light in the Civil Rights movement and on the current political stage. His memorable participation in and subsequent vicious beating on the Edmund Pettis Bridge in Selma, Alabama, is such a powerful iconic symbol of his unwavering commitment to civil rights and building bridges across race, religion, culture and political parties.
βAn inspirational card with a bridge on the cover pays homage to this icon and honors Black peopleβs marches then and now in our fight for equality.β

Happy Valentineβs Day!
Fieldnotes Font
At Valentineβs Day three years ago I was able to first share my Fieldsmith font when it was used on several heart day cards. Today I am excited to share my second font collaboration, Fieldnotes! Created by Josh Scruggs (a fellow KU alum!), this casual script comes in two versions (one textured, one smooth). This font is named to accompany my previous font as it also nods back to my maiden name, Fields. Iβve noticed Fieldnotes used on some recent Hallmark social posts as well. I canβt wait to see all the ways designers will continue incorporating it into their work!
