Yesterday I had a chance to participate in my first Saint Louis Design Week event, a Terrarium Workshop! This workshop took place at Flowers and Weeds, located on Cherokee Street in St. Louis. Jessica Douglass's fantastic greenhouse is located behind The Heirloom Room, an equally fantastic antique shop. I had a wonderful time making my very own terrarium and taking a multitude of pictures around the space. If you find yourself on Cherokee Street don't miss out on visiting both!
AIGA KC Fellow Award
On September 20th my professor Patrick Dooley was honored as the 2014 AIGA KC Fellow Award winner. While I was unable to attend the Sintennial A10 Gala and Exhibition, I could not have been more excited for Patrick to receive this award. He was definitely a great influence on my design career while at KU, and a wonderful advisor as I completed my Senior Problems class at Hallmark. Take a look at the wonderful video Liquid 9 created to celebrate Patrick!
San Francisco Sights
Wow has it been a busy summer! While I haven't had as much time to devote to the blog as I would have liked to, I am happy to dive back in. A few weeks ago I had the chance to visit one of my best friends, Claire, in San Francisco. While she worked I spent my time wandering and sight seeing. A few of my favorite stops included visiting Muir Woods, shopping in the Mission District, purchasing a few books at Chronicle Books, and the many wonderful restaurants I had the chance to try. One of my favorites being breakfast at The Mill. Below are a few pictures I took during the trip, but there were many more wonderful ones as well!
On another note, during my trip I officially accepted a full-time position at Hallmark as a Lettering Artist! I could not be more excited that I will get to continue pursuing lettering surrounded by so many talented artists and designers. Between my internship, wedding planning, and traveling the entire summer seemed to fly by, but I am can't wait to see what this fall will bring!
Mike and Dianne
I am so excited to share some of the wedding collateral I created for my future sister-in-law, Dianne, and her new husband Mike. Throughout the past year I designed invitations, signs, beer labels, and even a mad-libs sheet for their big day. Enjoy a few glimpses into their wonderful wedding day!

5 Points β A Creative Union
While First Fridays are by far one of my favorite activities to attend as a creative in Kansas City, today was especially exciting because I was able to go to 5 Points Pop-Up Shop! 5 Points is a creative union which calls you to make, say, share, live, and keep. They are a wonderful new addition to the Kansas City creative community, take a look at their website and shop!
Design Army Invades KC
Tonight I had the opportunity to hear one of the founders of Design Army, Jake Lefebure, speak. While there were many witty and inspiring take-aways from the evening, it was perhaps most interesting to learn about the process in which their studio operates. Their heavy focus on sketching appears to drive the beginning stages of every project. We even got to see glimpses of how Design Army presents concepts to clients. While Jake chronicled many different projects they had worked on for various clients, I loved hearing about their work for Neenah Paper. I was even lucky enough to snag a few goodies from Neenah's table at the event. This included the set of cards they designed as part of the Delightful Species series. Below are several photos from Design Army's Facebook page giving a behind-the-scenes look at how they gathered inspiration for Neenah's new Environment Premium Recycled Papers line. Thanks Art+Copy Club for bringing in such an inspiring speaker!
