I am thrilled to announce that I will be spending my summer working as an intern in the Lettering Studio at Hallmark Cards! I absolutely cannot wait for this experience to begin, it will be the perfect start to life after graduation.
Matthew Shilan Workshop
Today I had the opportunity to attend a paper folding workshop with this week's Hallmark Symposium speaker Matthew Shilan. While I was not able to attend his lecture, the workshop allowed me to learn several techniques in paper folding/engineering. It was a wonderful way to spend my Friday morning! Some pictures from the event can be seen here.
Design Week Closing Party
KU Design Week came to a close with a wonderful Friday night gathering. I am especially proud of my friend, Claire Pedersen, for all her work to put together the entire event, and the many others who helped. I'm always a fan of a photo booth, enjoy!

Paper Engineering Workshop
This morning I attended another KU Design Week event, a paper engineering workshop led by Matthew Hawkins. After hearing his journey to becoming a freelance paper engineer, we each created a Jayhawk with a template Matthew provided. The end result was rather adorable, and I have a new appreciation for what goes into creating paper structures. It is always inspiring to hear how creative individuals find success doing what they love.
Drop Cap Battle
Tonight I was able to participate in KU Design Week's Drop Cap Battle. Led by the lovely Amber Goodvin, two people were each assigned the same letter and had to create competing drop caps in one hour. Below is the letter G I created, and I will soon receive a copy of a zine featuring every letterform created at the workshop!
Honey, Honey
Today I took the time to re-photograph my Bloomfield Farm Honey Packaging. I really wanted to bring some new life to this project, and I think these photographs do a much better job presenting the packaging. Below are a few extra photos I loved:
