Sister Staycation!

This last weekend my sisters (plus Dale and Alex) rented an Airbnb literally down the street from our house so that we could have a day at the pool. With so many vacations and plans cancelled this summer it was the perfect 24 hour staycation and we also got to celebrate that Grace and I will be Maid/Matron of Honors at Sophie’s wedding next June! I hope you all have found some time to relax and enjoy this summer, too!

July Around The Web

Summer is definitely in full swing! This month had moments of normal (we spent the day at the lake with Dale’s family for the Fourth of July, dinners outside with friends…) my WFH schedule continues indefinitely. I’ve been lucky that Dale has had a slightly less busy schedule lately and we have been able to spend more time together. The most eventful news of the month was getting tile added behind our tub and at the base of our fireplace and getting our bathtub resurfaced, marking the end of our mini bathroom renovation! Last up will be finding a decorative mirror (this one perhaps?) and then the space will be totally complete.

June Around The Web

Recapping the month these days feels so different. With so much happening there is a lot, and many necessary things, to take in and learn and grow from. I’ve been reading a lot, participating in a listening series on racism in Kansas City put on by the KC Chamber, and have still been working from home during the pandemic. Growth is happening all around us, and hopefully within ourselves too, but it’s hard and some days I really do miss my normal routine. Also at the same time life continues on. This month we celebrated my sister Grace’s 16th birthday and my sister Sophie got engaged! Time is moving so fast and so slow, in many ways I can’t believe we are already headed into July but here are a few things that caught my eye this month:

Stay safe, friends!

Bathroom Updates!

Hello, friends! While spending so much time at home Dale and I have tackled our bathroom mini-renovation sooner than expected. I’ve always known we would need to do some updates in our only bathroom but I had many internal debates about what the best route would be. Should we completely gut the space and start over? Just replace the toilet and sink? We ended up somewhere in the middle: we replaced all fixtures, the toilet and sink but kept and restored the original floors, medicine cabinet and tub.

Taking down some poorly placed built in cabinets and adding tile was the biggest change! Luckily, most of the work we were able to do ourselves and the quick tile job made a huge impact. Our new tub hardware was a splurge but also makes a HUGE difference! Another aspect of the space was mixing metals. We went with chrome hardware and fixtures except in a few instances where we brought in brass to tie in with the rest of our home. Also, we painted the walls with Sherwin-Williams Nearly Peach and got these two Amazon items to make our life with a tub/shower combo so much better: Shower Caddy and Umbra Flex Drain Stop. Have you pushed a home project up during this time? Photos of the final bathroom to come, we are just waiting to have the tub resurfaced and my print from my friend Alyissa to arrive!
