A few years ago I created a decorative letter H and I have always wanted to expand it into a whole alphabet. Over the last few weeks I finally did! I have a few other projects that have been on my list for awhile and finishing this alphabet has me inspired to keep checking those off. Enjoy!
Lettering Inspiration
Happy Monday, friends. Today I am sharing some of my favorite lettering artists to follow on Instagram. Being back in the lettering studio at work has really helped me end the year inspired to head into 2018 ready to create, and I love saving lettering inspiration while scrolling through Instagram. Enjoy!

2017 Christmas Card Photos
Dale and I decided to get new pictures taken for our Christmas card this year — here are a few of my favorites! We had a really hard time deciding which one to use on our actual card. Thank you Bethany!
Draplin in KC
This Wednesday Draplin made another stop in KC to speak at a Made in the Middle Mini Event! I have heard him speak twice before, once in St. Louis and once at Hallmark, but this time he talked a lot about his book and his cross-country speaking tour. Thanks for another great event Aaron, AIGA KC, and Made in the Middle!
Here are my favorite takeaways:
- Don't forget that this can be fun.
- Vectors are free and infinite.
- "I'm fighting hard to life my life creatively, enjoy work along the way, provide for my loved ones, and be free."
- We forget the importance of how to make something using one color effectively.
- "I'm trying to materialize a life where I get to make a stamp someday."
Love Print
Hello, friends! Here is a recent print I designed which I hope to have available on Etsy soon. I loved playing around with layered letterforms and interwoven swashes. Enjoy!
Block Printing for #My5Days
Last Thursday I spent the last of #My5Days at a block printing workshop led by Marisol Ortega. She spent the morning teaching us how she uses block printing in her illustration and lettering work, and then we were let loose to create patterns and other lettering or illustration focused pieces. I loved the freedom of creating one small square and seeing the different ways it could be printed to create patterns. In the afternoon I played around with an illustrated letter "A." I would love to incorporate this technique into future lettering pieces! Thanks, Hallmark, for five days this year to make & explore.
