June Around The Web

June has truly been a whirlwind. We kicked off the month in Florida to finally celebrate Adam & Alex’s marriage, Dale graduated from his residency, we got together with my college friends, saw both our dads on Father’s Day weekend, and most importantly we got Sophie & Alex married! (Their wedding date of June 26th was also Grace’s 17th birthday!) It has been more meaningful than ever to be able to gather and celebrate and I can’t wait to see all the wedding photos from her photographer!

  • Around the web was a bit light this month with all the festivities. BUT these lemon taper holders perfectly fit with Sophie’s wedding theme and caught my eye.

  • I don’t know that we will have time to get to Joshua Tree when we head to CA in September but it’s on the list for someday!

  • Obsessed with dresses lately and love this one

  • An interesting read about the future of the American house

  • Love this cute DIY and I think my nephews would, too!

  • The “it” houseplants for 2021. You can never have too many!

  • I’m already dreaming and scheming for a big Europe trip in summer 2022. On the list: England, Greece & Croatia!

Happily Ever After It Is

Santorini: Part Two

As I mentioned in my last post, Dale and I spent our third morning in Oia. We then headed back to the San Antonio to enjoy breakfast and a massage. Afterwards we relaxed at the pool before heading out on a sunset cruise around the caldera! We had a great time meeting other honeymooners and even swam in the hot springs of the former volcano. I loved our view of the red beach from our boat. We were worn out after the cruise and slept in the next morning. After a late breakfast we rented a car and drove around the island. We stopped in the village of Pyrgos, the former capital.

After exploring Pyrgos we drove to the highest point on the island to enjoy the view. We drove down the mountain, and then back up again to see Ancient Thera. It was a pretty crazy road up, and once we reached the top realized it had already closed, but it was still a great adventure! For dinner we drove to Kamari which was a fun beach town. After enjoying a beer under the umbrellas we found a restaurant and enjoyed some spaghetti and a gyro. Wanting to make the most of our rental car, we made one last stop in Imerovigli to hike out to Skaros Rock. This was by far my favorite spot to watch the sunset.

Our last full day on the island was spent driving some more around the island in the morning, and relaxing at the pool in the afternoon. We ordered room service that evening to celebrate the end of our trip. We truly had the best time in Greece, we will never forget our time spent in Athens or on the beautiful island of Santorini!

Santorini: Part One

After our time in Athens Dale and I flew to Santorini! I have been dreaming of visiting the island for a long time, and it definitely lived up to expectations. Our first night we stayed at the beautiful Amber Light Villas. We spent the day relaxing at the pool and enjoying the delicious food at the hotel. It was the perfect relaxing start to our time on the island.

The next morning we rented an ATV and headed to Fira. We spent the day exploring the capital before heading to our next hotel, the San Antonio Imerovigli, to check in. The caldera view was truly spectacular. We then headed to Oia to eat dinner and watch the sunset. I loved seeing the crowds gather and line every wall with a good view. After the sunset headed back to our hotel, and woke up early the next morning for one last ride on our ATV. We went back to Oia to take some more pictures and enjoy the town in the early morning. It was nice to explore without so many tourists. Here are my favorite pictures from exploring Fira and  Oia:

Honeymoon Part One: Athens

I have finally sorted through all of our honeymoon photos and I'm excited to share my favorites from Athens! Dale and I spent the first two days of our trip exploring the city, and I loved the contrast between the history and modern life. After getting off the plane we first checked in at the Royal Olympic Athens. Our room had a beautiful view of the Temple of Olympian Zeus. The rest of the afternoon was spent exploring the Plaka. I loved how the Greek evil eye even appeared in the graffiti.

We woke up early on day two and made it up to the Acropolis by 8 A.M. The view from the top was hard to capture in pictures, it was amazing to see the light reflect off of the buildings. You could also tell just how huge the city is. Seeing the Parthenon in person was incredible, and I definetley recommend The Acropolis Museum. That afternoon we also saw the the Theater of Dionysus, The Ancient Agora, and visited the National Archeological Museum. Spending two days in Athens was the perfect start to our trip. I will share pictures from Santorini soon!
