Easter is right around the corner and once again Think.Make.Share. has lots of inspiration for your egg decorating! I was lucky enough to spend an afternoon painting a few eggs, and you can head over to the blog to see all the amazing results. You can also take a peek back at the workshop I hosted last year if you want even more inspiration. Happy decorating!
Big News!
Hello, friends! I don't often devote entire posts to life updates, but this week has been too eventful not to recap. Some may know that for the past few years I have been splitting my time between Kansas City and St. Louis while my husband, Dale, was in medical school. BUT this week we found out that he will be headed back to KC this summer to complete his internal medicine residency! This news has been a long time coming, so getting the final word that we will be together (full-time!) in our hometown was some of the best news ever!
And just in case that wasn't enough news for one week, we bought a house! I have been dreaming of owning a home for the past few years, and I can't wait to do a few repairs and updates and start decorating! This quote that I lettered for Hallmark pretty much sums up how I'm feeling. I can't wait to share some details about our house and next chapter in Kansas City here on the blog, but for now I'm off to celebrate!
Alexandra Violet Sign
Happy Wednesday, friends! This week is a big one β I will be writing an entire post soon, but for now I'm just popping in to share this laser-cut acrylic mirror version of my name. I created this awhile ago, but wanted to make sure I had it documented here on the blog. I've also been experimenting with this same material for fun project at work, the possibilities are endless when you have access to a laser machine! I hope your week has been wonderful so far!
Lettering Cards: Part Two
As promised, here is part two to share a few of my favorite cards I worked on earlier in my career at Hallmark. (Take a peek at my first post here!) As a designer or artist I always think it is important to look back and be proud of how far you have come, and of older work. Some of these cards were my first projects collaborating with more seasoned designers, and others some of the very first as a designer myself. I hope that many of these cards helped people celebrate those they love!

Dallas Favorites
This past weekend I took a quick trip to Dallas to celebrate my friend Ashley's bachelorette party! This was my first time in Dallas and we had the best time. I loved catching up with my college friends who live out of town, and trying so many wonderful new restaurants and bars! Following bloggers is one of my favorite ways to discover the best places to try in a new city, and the atmosphere and coffee at Magnolias Sous Le Pont (recommended by Amy from Fashion Jackson) did not disappoint. Here are all the places we tried:
Cane Rosso
- We started our trip with pizza at Cane Rosso Friday night. We ordered a few to share, but my favorite was the Prosciutto e Rucola. I also tried a local beer, the Saint Arnold Fancy Lawnmower, which I'm hoping I can find at home, too!
Soul Cycle
- I have been to Soul Cycle once before (during my work trip to Chicago last year), but this time going with a group of friends made it an even better experience!
Mercat Bistro
- Mercat Bistro was one of my favorite parts of our trip! We sat in their beautiful metal pavilion and loved every second of our meal. I started with the Ricotta & Honeycomb and had the Egg's Benedict for my meal. Both were amazing, this would be on the top of my list of places to go back to!
Magnolias Sous Le Pont
- After brunch we headed to Magnolias to grab coffees and chat. It was a rainy morning so relaxing and drinking our coffee in this beautiful location was the perfect way to pass the time before the KU game!
Katy Trail Ice House
- Most of the girls on the trip were KU fans so finding a fun place to watch the game was a top priority. We ended up at Katy Trail Ice House and found a table right by the TVs inside. If we hadn't been so intent on watching the game it would have been a great place to sit outside, there were so many people who brought their dogs! And in a little better weather I'm sure this place would have been even more crowded.
Mesero
- After KU's win we spend some time relaxing at our Airbnb before dinner at Mesero, an upscale Mexcian restaurant. Most of us got enchiladas and enjoyed guac and queso to start!
Louie Louie's Dallas
- Finally, our night ended at Louie Louie's Piano Bar! This was the perfect spot for a bachelorette party, I think there were three other groups there as well. The music was great, and the performers were really entertaining.
Hopefully these recommendations will be helpful if you find yourself in Dallas, I love being able to look back at all the places I tried on trips and recommend them to friends. Happy travels!
