My last day in Nashville started with breakfast at Biscuit Love and then was spent shopping around The Gulch and 12 South! It felt great to have some sunny weather before heading back to rainy KC. I also think we may have seen almost every mural in all of Nashville. I’m so grateful I was able to have a mini spring break with my family!
Nashville Part One
This week I was able to spend a couple days in Nashville! The trip started with a few days celebrating my cousin’s bachelorette and then I met my family for a few days to explore the city. Some of our favorite stops were doughnuts from Five Daughters Bakery, live music at Tootsie’s and Honky Tonk Central on Broadway, lunch at Acme Farms + Kitchen, and a walk through Frist Art Museum. We also grabbed coffee at The Loading Dock, dinner at Whisky Kitchen and Bar Taco. We also stopped by the Country Music Hall of Fame! Here are a few of my favorite photos from our first day:
#FontsMadeByWomen — Lila Symons at TypeCon2018
I’m so excited to share my friend Lila Symons’ talk from TypeCon2018! I was honored that she choose to talk about our collaboration on her font Fieldsmith as one of the #FontsMadeByWomen she has worked on during her time at Hallmark. I really am constantly inspired by the talented women I work with, including Lila!
The More of Less
Hello, friends! It’s been awhile since I recapped a book, but I recently finished The More of Less by Joshua Becker and I couldn’t help but take a few notes. This book talks about minimalism and now living with less can lead you to live a happier, more generous, life. I definitely don’t consider myself a minimalist, but I have been making an effort to be more conscious of my purchases and I found many of his points really inspiring.
If you have ever been overwhelmed by your possessions, or thought about living a more minimalist life this book should be on your list! I think this quote best sums it up:
“Liberation from the need to possess. And liberation from conforming to a society built on consumerism. This is the promise of minimalism: to rejoice at the sight of all the things we do not need. And to have our lives finally freed to pursue the things we want to do. I want you to have the same joy, to experience the same liberation.”

Hello, March
March has arrived and I couldn’t help but share this illustration I created for Hallmark. Hoping this month brings some sunny weather and flowers, too!
